I want to thank everyone for their extraordinary effort in this effort. I especially want to thank members of law enforcement from all over the county for all they have done. I am humbled to have earned their support.
This campaign has made a difference. We reminded Los Angeles that the job of District Attorney is not about politics; it is about keeping our families and our community safe. We came together and grew this campaign into a community with that simple idea that the next Los Angeles District Attorney should be a prosecutor, not a politician.
We did not get all the way this time, but we are far from done. We will continue working to get dangerous gang members off our streets. We will continue working to modernize the ways we fight crime so we can stay one step ahead of violent criminals. We will continue working to make sure our children know they have choices in this life, and that gangs and crime and suffering are not the only option. We will continue working together because everything is at stake.
Thank you, and God bless you.
